Ustream + Nicovideo commenting + Twitter = Now now
The quality for the live broadcasts is much better than nicovideo and the twitter integration is terrific. Nicovideo has a lot to learn from these guys. If they don’t, they’ll probably be abandoned for Now nows better quality, longer programs, less restrictions and better twitter integration.
The video you see above is from a newcomer on the net called Now now. It’s basically is ustream with nicovideo live commenting.
If Now now doesn’t get banned for using ustream like this, of course.
You might recognize this song and dance as the one from “relations” in the Idolm@ster game but the model is a bit… different. It seems like this video is from the mentally deranged shogun series. Someone apparently made a MMD model of a shogun and I must say that it is one of the better ones I’ve seen. The stage is also pretty. Oh and don’t forget the camera work! Yes, this video cannot be explained in words, you must see it for yourself:
Nanahira, known for her often perverted and very loli songs, has mixed up with Halozy and their touhou circle. She does the vocals, as usual in a very loli way, but this time around you’ll find that the song is actually quite good. Respect to Halozy for making her fit in with the music!
Idolm@ster is the Xbox360, PSP and Nintendo DS game where you as a manager takes care of an upcoming idol. You make her practice singing, dancing and give her advice so that she can bloom and become a the best of the best. The original game is really really popular in Japan and there is a whole industry behind the downloadable dresses and other accessories. People are known to spend many hundreds of euros on this game… just to make the girls look their best.
This game… is now getting a real sequel on Xbox360!
Note that this series is all about promotion. Promotion of nicovideo and their nori (!?) The drama still IS quite funny so check it out if you like the different memes that nicovideo has created. There are a million different cameo’s.
Did you find any?
Jason is back just in time for the first episode of K-ON Season 2, Episode 1, but this time he’s not using a chainsaw! Instead, he makes four wooden sculptures based on K-ON! figurines. You can really see the love and hard work he puts into each and every one of them.
Happy birthday, Misao!
Based on the famous Hatsune Miku song and video “初音ミクの消失" (The erasure of Hatsune Miku), now comes yet another music video to the oldie but goodie, -VAVAVA END-. This remix uses the voice from Kusakabe Misao, a background character in Lucky☆Star, like a vocaloid by cutting and pasting different audio segments, making her sing☆
Remember the movie Taxi? No! Not the american piece of SHIT! I mean, of course, the french original movie about a Taxi driver that has a strange habit of driving really fast. Well, what do you think happens when you combine the sequel of Taxi with GTA? And then add some Touhou?
Yuichiro Nagashima also known as JIEN☆OTSU (長島☆自演乙☆雄一郎) became as of today the winner of the K-1 World MAX 2010 -70kg Japan Tournament! You probably know him for his spectacular entrances and as the “Otaku kickboxer”. Surprised that an otaku can fight? Well he says that fighting is his hobby and that he cosplays for a living!
What an awesome guy! He kicks hard and his cosplay is out of this world! Don’t believe in his skills as a fighter? Check out the knock-out that won him the title below:
Good job man! We hope that you’ll take many more titles and that your cosplay will be as good as ever even when your face is black and blue!
All that’s left to say is…

It seems like Miku Miku Dance has come a long way. It might even rival the original game with its graphics and motion effects now! The only thing you need to do is use more effort. And time☆
The line between moé and perversion is a hard one to draw. Some would say that you already are perverted if you are drawn to a 2D world. Others would mean that moé is just some kind of soft porn. I have a hard time agreeing, but I cannot disagree. Especially after watching this video.
There is a certain tension in the air today. It seems like nicovideo finally is removing some of the constraints on their platform and letting more people take part of the content available. There are for example plans to let people make apps for nicovideo (live) like the apps on facebook or mixi. We are recently also seeing more twitter integration on the site. Users of nicovideo have been able to twitter videos and live shows for a while now but they has finally taken a step forward and started to display the tweets.
You can integrate your nicovideo profile with your twitter account by going to the account settings page and then the twitter settings page. After clicking the big black button and accepting the nicovideo application you’ll just have to choose what you want to post to twitter.
From top down: mylist additions, participations in nico-gameplays, when you start a live broadcast and when you submit a video. It is fine if you don’t want to integrate your account at all since there are tweet buttons on all nicovideo pages, but this automates the whole process and adds the correct tags for you.
The nicovideo live page has also changed. You can with one click change your comments to tweets if you first connect your twitter account to nicovideo. It’s like before, click the connect button, accept the nicovideo app and you’re ready to go! The tweet tab displays the twitter timeline for the livecast and your tweets will also be displayed there.
The comment textfield is also a bit different. It now has a button that changes your comments into tweets complete with tags and urls. Users will now easily be able to get the word out about their broadcasts and hopefully gather a larger audience.
This is a small step towards spreading the word about nicovideo and the videos there and I can’t wait to see what the nicovideo apps will end up like. I hope that they are more than farmville rip-offs and instead applications that you can use to make cooler comments or connect other sites (like moemania) to nicovideo.
You know that a meme has gone far when instead of using old footage, someone makes their own fan-made mashups by recording new videos. Like the Joker-parodies on youtube or like this Aniki video where three guys went out and bought some jockstraps and S&M gear. For our entertainment.
This is a new genre. Instead of “I danced” it’s more like “I preformed” or “I stood”. I have never seen a Noh-play in real life but I’d love to go and watch one if they were anything like this! MasayukiP sure is different from the rest of us IMAS loving fools☆
The lack of space in a japanese apartment makes people take an extra step when buying furniture for their rooms. This video will show off some of the better rooms uploaded to roomwatch. You’ll notice that a room doesn’t need to be much more than a couple of pieces of furniture and a lot of sense of colour and space.
Chiptunes, the melody of yesteryear. How we miss you so much! The blippity blops of the C64, Amiga and Nintendo. The scrolling action and the endless bugs and hacks that made these platforms the happy memory they are today. But lets not forget the music! The endless loops that made us remember why we actually played the games that sometimes were so crappy that they were unplayable.
Nothing makes us more happy these days as when we spot videos that reminds us of the times past. This remake of “Saihate” by Hatsune Miku is one of them!
Remilia lives a pretty easy going life with her maids, chinese watch guard and other servants. The only thing that can go wrong is when the humans… err… misbehave. As in the video below.
The fourth nicovideo medley by niwaka is out now! It’s called “Are you smiling?!” or “Nicotale” (it’s a pun on ニコってる). The creation of this 100 song medley mix has been unofficially taken over by another group than the usual suspects and it’s crazy. The videoclips are excellent and the pace is a nice change from the normal medleys. That also means that the song is harder to sing to. I doubt that anyone will make it but I am sure that someone will try!
The video this time around is more than just a win9x media player plugin. It actually contains videos of all of the memes in the song. And more. Even we have a hard time getting some of the video clips!

There are a bunch of different anime orientated twitter bots online and I’ve recently been playing a lot with some Idolmaster ones. These girls live the lives of the different characters from the games and are quite good at it! There are different stories going on and the bots can even reference back to previous subjects and talking points.
It’s very particular when you notice that they all greet you in a special way. Some bot might come in a bit later in the conversation and wonder what’s going on and what the other girls are talking about. I think that these characters are mainly roleplaying bots with some automatic answers built in. They are very synchronized and their responses are what you expect from talking to the characters if they existed for real. They sometimes even comment on when a friend of theirs change their icon as if they changed their hairstyle. Sending messages to the girls also gets you the answers you’d expect. Be perverted and you get rejected (in a good way) but treat them as you’d treat them in the game and you’ll get awarded (as in the game).
Some of the girls stay awake longer than others and you can even notice some patterns in their lifestyle… or that’s at least what I’d like to imagine.
You can find them talking and being active mostly during the morning, lunch and evening. Check them out yourself!
That’s something to celebrate now isn’t it? Well, as you’d have it, the 10 millionth video got removed because of Fuji TV and their copyright of some footage. Instead, I have this for you:
I’m guessing that everyone has at least one twitter account by now. Anime characters have their accounts, celebrities have theirs and now it’s time to explore which voice actresses you can stalk follow!
That’s not enough for you? Need more? Follow this list for around 70 different voice actors and actresses in many different fields. Some famous and some not at all known!
You know the feeling when you’re talking to someone and reminiscing about old times? For example, when you went to that trip together, raided that castle and got over 9000 experience in one go? Or when you bought your very first figurine? This video makes me feel the same way.
【ニコニコ動画】Just Be Friends歌ってみたと思ったら歌ってなかった
Aaah, I remember that old meme! It was so popular before and then someone made it even better by making the character sing and … and… and…
I think I might spend too much time on nicovideo. Maybe.
Nicovideo is now about 7000 users away from having 700 K premium users! This means that they are, just from the users, getting ¥350 000 000 (2,9 million EUR) a month. But they’re in the minus. I guess bandwidth and personal costs are high. And that they use a lot of “creative” bookkeeping.
Jason-san is a japanese artist and a master of using a chainsaw to make different sculptures. He has done many statues, such as characters from anime series and japanese memes. This time around, he takes on Big Daddy from the Bioshock series. His blog (in japanese) tells you more about the progress and gives you some insight in how he makes these sculptures.
Why did he make it?
Because a diving suit and a drill is something men feel connected to. It’s kind of romantic.
It’s quite amazing what you can do with a chainsaw and a piece of wood, don’t you think?
